We will step back in time to explore Shakespearean England by traveling to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit the Royal Shakespeare Theater and see Shakespeare's birthplace. We will also go to the Globe theater, see a production, experience a backstage tour, and participate in an acting workshop. We will compare this experience to modern theater in London by visiting the Sondheim theater to see Les Miserables and tour backstage. A total of 5 productions in a variety of venues will provide a broad view of British theater across time. Students should expect to challenge themselves as active participants in a theatrical experience. We will also explore various acting careers outside of the theater. British history and culture will be explored through interactive experiences at museums and castles.
