FVS's Health staff serve as the primary care provider and case manager for boarding students, and provide acute care for all students as needed. Overall, the Health team:
- Assesses and treats minor injuries;
- Monitors patient health;
- Assists with scheduling TeleMed and TeleTherapy appointments;
- Supports students experiencing health challenges that may interfere with their education;
- Helps students and faculty obtain necessary immunizations; and
- Coordinates emergency care in the event of accidents or sudden, severe illness.
In addition to serving patients during the below hours of operation, FVS nurses–along with the School's Physician and Medical Director–are on call 24/7 for emergency consultation and to manage emergencies. Medical technicians also assist with administering medications from 7:15-10:15 p.m. during the week and from 4-10:15 p.m. on weekends. Out in the field, members of the FVS Health team supervise the Concussion Graduated Return to Learn Program for athletes, assist faculty and staff with planning and meeting patient needs during Interim Expeditions and other off-campus field trips, and educate staff regarding students' individual and group health.
