Student Life

Campus Safety & Security

The safety, security and well-being of our community is our most important responsibility. The School works closely with local and national advisory organizations to determine best practices and ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and facilities.
  • Our campus is gated and is surrounded by 1,100 acres of open space.
  • Campus is monitored by video surveillance and every residence house exterior is surveilled 24 hours a day.
  • Fountain Valley maintains excellent relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services to ensure that they are familiar with the School and the property. The average response time is 3-8 minutes.
  • Access to residence houses is controlled by keycard access.
  • Fountain Valley uses the REACH boarding school system to keep track of students, making it easy to know who is where and when they are returning to their residence house. Parents use REACH to request and approve leave events and manage their child’s permissions.
  • Student activity during weekends is managed and supervised through a series of face-to-face check-ins and careful tracking of any off-campus excursions.
  • The School employs three nurses who staff our Health Center and there is a nurse on call 24 hours a day. Our head nurse lives on campus.
  • There is an assigned senior administrator on duty 24 hours a day.
  • The FVS security team conducts campus-wide safety drills throughout the year.
FVS is a private, college-preparatory, co-ed, day and boarding school for grades 9-12 in Colorado Springs.
