Right after the end of athletics on Fridays, the pace on the campus changes. Weekend activities are announced at All-Schools, and students sign up for on- and off-campus programs and events organized by a team of faculty and students. Weekend programs include a range of activities, from overnight getaways to the Mountain Campus for mountain biking or skiing, to a homemade pizza dinner and movie in one of the houses.
Events such as Stupid and Cupid Night, Club Frautschi and the Orientation Lawn Party are among the highlights of the School’s special event weekends, which are organized by students and faculty. During the winter season, students and their faculty chaperones head to nearby ski resorts for daylong ski trips on Saturday and Sunday.
Students, with permission from their families, can also opt to go off campus. They often leave campus in small groups by catching a ride with the faculty-run downtown bus. Day student families regularly host boarding students at their homes for the weekend.
Aside from social activities and off-campus excursions, weekends are a busy time for competition for athletic teams. During fall and spring seasons, the outdoor education team often heads out for one-to-two day trips to remote Colorado locations to hike, climb and camp.
