Global Education

You’ll find a world of opportunity at Fountain Valley to develop an international perspective through a curriculum and a set of experiences that focus on global understanding and promote human interconnectivity. FVS believes in cultivating change-seekers who embrace the world and take action in their local community and beyond.

Across the Curriculum

You can choose from more than 50 courses and electives that incorporate global themes, including courses in math, science and the arts. Students and faculty also have the opportunity to attend more than 60 global events throughout the year both on campus and through off-campus trips. These include speakers at Colorado College and other venues around Colorado Springs, as well as events in Denver. Faculty and students also engage in the greater Colorado Springs community through organizations like Care & Share, Colorado Springs Food Rescue, Urban Peak and others. Through this global lens, our students find their place in the world and develop an understanding of their role in the greater human community.

Round Square

Fountain Valley’s membership in Round Square offers opportunities for exciting exchanges with schools around the world. FVS students have participated in exchanges in South Africa, Australia, Peru and Colombia. In turn, our community welcomes students from these countries who enrich our global program, and forge friendships and connections that last well beyond Fountain Valley.

Global Scholars Diploma

You can distinguish yourself by becoming a Global Scholar and diving deep into a global issue you are passionate about. Through a curriculum and set of experiences that include travel and community service, the two-year GSD program culminates in a capstone project.

You will gain a rich understanding of your global topic by conducting primary research and deep investigation. Students who earn a Global Scholar Diploma have gained the knowledge, skills and ability to grasp the nature of global interdependence and pursue education in the international arena. Many FVS Global Scholars have continued with their topic in their college studies.

Interim

Every March, students embark on a cultural immersion experience throughout diverse parts of the globe. These students become acquainted in a new culture over the course of 10 days. The classroom-without-walls often includes a homestay and a community service project.
