ENGLISH RIDING PROGRAM

A unique facet of the program is that riders are not only taught the skills to be excellent riders, but also how to become excellent horsemen. Horsemanship, control of horse, safety, as well as skills in the day-to-day care of horses (grooming and minor veterinary care) are essential components of the program. Each rider is required to help in the feeding and maintenance of Fountain Valley riding facilities and horses. In addition, several times a year, Ann Hanna invites nationally recognized clinicians to work with FVS riders on specific skills.

COMPETITIONS

The English Riding program offers a few different levels of competition so that all riders can participate.

For our beginning and less-experienced riders, Fountain Valley holds schooling shows on campus, in addition to traveling to local schooling and CHJA competitions.

Our more advanced riders compete on the A-circuit at competitions such as Estes Park, Colorado Horse Park, HITS Tucson. We are also looking forward to competing close to home at the new A-rated show series being held at the Norris Penrose Equestrian Center in Colorado Springs.

All members of the English Riding team are invited to participate in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association horse shows. FVS has competed in the IEA Hunt Seat division since 2003.
