Dominique Dunne Film Competition

2011 Winners

First and second place in the dramatic category went to students from the Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, Calif., while Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas, provided the top two winners in the documentary category. An honorable mention award in the narrative category went to a student from Kent Denver in Denver, Colo. 

This year’s judges included Linda Broker, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival; Cyd Chartier Cohn, a Colorado Springs filmmaker; and Robin Jones, member of the Independent Film Society of Colorado and the Indie Spirit Film Festival filmmaker liaison and coordinator of screening.

Dramatic Category

First Place: “The Other Side” by Brit Wigintton (screenwriter), Ben Goodwin (director) and Jordan Kreimerman (cinematographer) of Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, Calif. (Betty Bailey, teacher)

Second Place: “Prima Ballerina Assoluta” by Dhaivat Mehta (director, screenwriter) and Kai Krause (cinematographer) of Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, Calif. (Betty Bailey, teacher)

Honorable Mention: “Fear is the Highest Fence” by Addy Wagner of the Kent Denver School (Jon Fortmiller, teacher)

First Place: “Hands Free” by Sierra Wilmot of Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas (Brent Morton, teacher)

Second Place: “Inside the Addictive Mind” by Amy Rankin of Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas (Brent Morton, teacher)
