We have tons of photos! There is much excitement and of course, some nerves, as the 89th FVS school year opens with 239 students from 16 countries and 20 states. There have been a lot of activities for students to get to know each other and learn the ropes. Yesterday, the entire community gathered in the Lewis Perry Jr. Chapel where Head of School Will Webb officially opened the school year with convocation, followed by a formal dinner and an ice cream social. Enjoy the photo gallery here!

The spring season for the riding team means better weather, more jumping, and horsehair EVERYWHERE. The first few weeks of the season have been quite busy for the riding team, as we have attended a few shows and even hosted our own schooling show at FVS.
We've lost a celebrated alumnus, John Perry Barlow '65: visionary internet pioneer, Grateful Dead lyricist, press freedom advocate , FVS parent (Leah '00) and former FVS trustee. He is paid a wonderful tribute here in the New York Times.
We write to update you about a report the School received from a former student who was at Fountain Valley in the 1980s. Although these events happened more than three decades ago, we value openness in our communications. Those of you who had children enrolled last year will recall that we shared this information with the School community in May. As you will read, the committee looking into this situation has concluded its work, and today, Will addressed the students and faculty—and now you—about the findings in the report.
