Hey guys! I hope everyone had a great summer and is excited for the new school year!
The new riders flocked down to the barn on the first day in shorts and sandals— eager and perhaps a little nervous for the season ahead. Ms. Hanna, our head coach, and Ms. Liz, our barn manager/coach, walked everyone through feeding routines, illnesses such as colic and choke, and the dress code. Wearing ripped jeans, a crop top and high-heels, Liv Proctor’21 so kindly volunteered herself to represent what should notbe worn down to the barn. I suspect that the new riders had no idea what they had gotten themselves into. The riders left the barn ready for the next day when we can finally get on our horses (and perhaps dreading a little bit the tremendous amount of two-point work we know will be enforced).
Our second day and first day of official riding went great! Everyone was thrilled to be on their horses and they all behaved extremely well given that most of the horses have had many weeks—even months—off. The excitement from the first two days was palpable and we are all excited for the season ahead of us. With Dover Saddlery trips, clinicians and shows in our future, we are all eager to jump into the new year.
Additionally, this year we have a new horseman, Mia Parsons ’21. She has already spent most of her summer working at the barn, and we are all excited to see what she carries out this year.
