This week, French students had their traditional "word burial". The AP class bid farewell to simple words that no longer serve them, such as "chose", "bon", "mauvais", "important" and "intéressant" (thing, good, bad, important and interesting). To bid each word farewell, written letters of gratitude were read before they "buried" their words while listening to Chopin's funeral march.
Following the burial, each student was tasked with researching and writing new, richer words to replace the dead ones. Tears were shed, but the brave students remained strong throughout the service -- remembering the good times that they had with their words.
