TRISTAN WHITE ’14: MINING THE DEPTHS OF HIS PASSION

“A mining company won’t be in business long if they don’t define the characteristics, the extent, and the concentration of their mineral resource well. So, that’s what I do,” says Class of 2014 Fountain Valley alumnus Tristan White, a senior exploration geologist whose work with the Morenci Mine in Greenlee County, Ariz., consists of planning and executing copper-drilling campaigns. “I’ve always really liked rocks [and] FVS advanced that interest,” says Tristan, who – inspired by FVS faculty like Mr. Gustke and Mr. Rebenstein – went on to obtain a B.A. in Geology from Colorado College as well as a Geology/Earth Science Certificate of Study Abroad from the University of Canterbury.

According to Guy, it’s a business in which one never stops learning. “If we build the right infrastructure and support, our children can go into the horse industry as professionals able to support themselves and flourish,” he says.
