FVS conducts daily screenings of all students, faculty and staff in order to identify symptoms that may indicate COVID-19 infection and respond accordingly. In addition, all faculty and staff participate in ongoing COVID testing designed to ensure that the entire community is tested every two weeks.
Students, faculty, and staff are required to complete a daily survey of symptoms electronically through REACH and will be guided accordingly for further assessment by the FVS Health Center or a physician based on any reported symptoms. In addition, students will have their temperature taken each morning by school personnel. Boarding students will have their temperature during breakfast check-in and day students will have theirs taken upon arrival. Should the need arise, the School may elect to move to twice-daily temperature checks.
The following criteria have been established by the El Paso Department of Health and will be used by FVS in daily self-assessment and symptom reporting. Any member of the FVS community who experiences the following must contact the Health Center immediately.
- New onset of cough
- shortness of breath
- Loss of taste or smell
OR at least two of the following:
- Fever (100.4 Fahrenheit or higher)
- Muscle pain
- Sore throat
- Gastrointestinal symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, or nausea
The FVS Health Center will provide direction for further evaluation and the individual must remain in their place of residence (dorm room or home) until cleared by the FVS Health Center. In the event that a faculty/staff family member experiences any of the above symptom thresholds, the faculty/staff member must follow the same protocol and remain in their residence until cleared by the FVS Health Center.
