We strongly believe that a student’s access to a stellar college preparatory education should not be limited by their family’s ability to pay full tuition.

FVS is proud to offer multiple forms of support for families including our robust and equitable financial aid program and our merit-based scholarships. Our affordability programs allow us to enroll highly qualified students regardless of family resources.

APPLYING FOR Need-Based AID

It is Fountain Valley's expectation that families contribute to the cost of their student’s education at the highest level possible, with multiple factors taken into consideration when assessing individual financial needs and qualifications. Two forms of financial assistance–need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarships–are offered at FVS, averaging $3.4M in tuition assistance per academic year.

How to Apply for Aid

Fountain Valley School Tuition Assistance is designed to make an FVS education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. FVS is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine each U.S. Resident's and Non-U.S. Resident's level of financial need based on assets, income, expenses, and debts shared by families when applying for aid. FVS also requires that families upload additional tax documentation, including Form 1120, 1120S, 1065, and Income Verification for International Families (if these documents apply to your family) via the School's admission dashboard.

GET STARTED. Proceed to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application takes an average of 30 minutes or less to complete and can be completed from anywhere. Users may also save their progress and return to the application at any time. The cost for completing the Clarity Application is $60. NOTE: This application can be shared with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application at no additional charge. The deadline for completing the financial aid application–including relevant supplemental documents–is December 30 for Early Action Applicants and February 1 for Regular Decision Applicants.

Items to Remember

It is vital that Fountain Valley have adequate knowledge of your family’s unique financial picture. Please keep in mind the following areas:

Employment: FVS assumes that each parent in the family will work to help pay for their student’s education unless there are elementary-age children present in the household. Out-of-work parents should be prepared to explain the “why” behind their situation and should be aware that FVS may assign an income for them when determining their family's financial needs.
Marital Status: FVS will consider the financial resources of both legal parents—even if separated or divorced—if they share custody, despite an assertion that only one parent assumes financial responsibility. FVS reserves the right to consider both parents in assessing the family's financial needs. When applying for financial aid, all parents involved–if custody is shared–must fill out the necessary paperwork.
Confidentiality: The financial aid application process is confidential and information obtained will remain strictly within the Office of Admission and among the Financial Aid Committee.
Timeline of Award: The Financial Aid Committee grants awards based on data collected through FVS's third-party vendor. Families must re-apply for aid each academic year, as all awards are re-evaluated by the Financial Aid Committee on an annual basis.
