COVID-19 Enrollment FAQ

We are living in unprecedented times and the challenges created by COVID-19 have resulted in a significant amount of uncertainty. Please know that we are here to help and committed to working with you to surmount any challenges that lie ahead. Many families have reached out with questions about the financial implications of COVID-19 related to enrollment. We have consolidated a number of these questions into a Q&A below.

Fountain Valley School was founded 90 years ago and has thrived in the years since by delivering transformative educational experiences for our students regardless of the situation. Our school has weathered a World War and other global conflicts, as well as The Great Depression and many other significant economic downturns including the Great Recession of 2008. When you sign an enrollment agreement, we are committing to you just as you are committing to FVS and we will do everything in our power to work in partnership with you in support of your children, our students.

It is our hope that this letter provides clarity for you, however, if you have questions that are not answered here or simply wish to talk through your situation, please know that we are here to listen and help. We value our partnership with you, and Fountain Valley School is committed to supporting our families as we navigate these uncharted waters together.

COVID-19 Enrollment FAQ

List of 6 items.

  • What will happen if I sign my enrollment agreement and I am unable to pay tuition? Does tuition refund insurance apply?

Tuition insurance claims may be made when you withdraw your child from school and then only after meeting the requirements set forth by the company that offers the insurance. While financial hardship is included in covered losses, it requires that your child withdraw from school. Further details can be found here. If you are uncertain about your ability to pay tuition, please reach out to us to discuss options
  • Are there payment plans for tuition?

    • Yes. The school offers four different options for payment of tuition and accepts credit cards with a 2.5% service charge.
    • Plan A: 1 payment due July 1. This option includes Tuition Refund Insurance provided by a third party that costs 3% of your total tuition and is billed by the school.

    • Plan B: 1 payment due July 1. This option DOES NOT include Tuition Refund Insurance.

    • Plan C: 2 payments made on July 1 and Nov 1. This option incurs a $350 deferred payment fee and requires Tuition Refund Insurance (TRI), which is provided by a third party. TRI costs 3% of your total tuition and is billed by the school. The cost of TRI and the deferred payment fee are due with the July 1 payment.

    • Plan D: 10 tuition payments starting May 1. This option incurs a $650 deferred payment fee and requires Tuition Refund Insurance (TRI), which is provided by a third party. TRI costs 3% of your total tuition and is billed by the school. The cost of TRI and the deferred payment fee are due with the July 1 payment.
  • May I apply for financial aid mid-year?

The school determines a budget for financial aid each year and allocates it in its entirety when enrollment offers are sent out to maximize the benefit for as many students as possible. For this reason, we cannot allocate new or additional financial aid mid-year. However, if your financial situation has changed, please reach out to us to discuss your situation.
  • What if my child is not able to obtain an F1 visa or unable to travel to school due to a government-imposed travel ban?

If either of the above scenarios takes place prior to the start of the school year, your full deposit and any tuition paid for the coming year will be refunded in full minus any administrative costs such as wire transfer fees. FVS will offer a distance learning option specifically for international students who are unable to attend FVS in person.
  • Should my child enroll and not be able to complete the year due to a resurgence of COVID-19, will my tuition be refunded? Does tuition refund insurance apply?

Similar to the above scenarios, in the event of a renewed threat to public health from COVID-19, the School will follow guidance from local, state, and national authorities as it is doing now to make informed, intentional decisions and adapt programming as necessary. We have every hope that the coming school year will proceed as planned. Should this change, the school will evaluate the situation and communicate in a timely manner.
  • If I still have questions, or I am unsure of how to proceed, what should I do?

Should you have concerns or hesitations about completing your enrollment agreement, please reach out to us to begin a dialogue by emailing admission@fvs.edu or calling Jesse Fortney at 719-391-5297. We are here to help and welcome your questions and concerns.
