Faculty, staff, students and families gathered beneath the big white tent on Friday, May 24, for a year-end awards ceremony recognizing the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements, and leadership qualities depicted by students representing the Fountain Valley School Class of 2024. “You have left an impression on me, and I thank you for your willingness to lead, share, and inspire those around you,” Head of School Megan Harlan told the senior class in her welcome address.
This year, the graduating class nominated Science Teacher Suzanne Tibbits to provide the ceremony’s annual faculty address in honor of the way in which she has “thrown herself into the community and truly made [their] four years at FVS amazing. Mrs. Tibbits is not only known for her kindness, passion, and thoughtfulness, but for her striking intelligence and knowledge,” said senior Annie W.
Mrs. Tibbits recalled the challenging experiences, such as the COVID pandemic, that she and the Class of 2024 faced together, noting the growth and maturity she witnessed in each student over the past four years. “While there are countless avenues for personal growth, it primarily occurs through life experiences, education, and connections with others,” she said, leaving one final piece of advice. “Reflect on those indicators of growth, embrace the journey of self-improvement, and ensure that you remain green and growing.”
