Three FVS Female Student-Athletes Commit to College Sports Programs

Fountain Valley School is celebrating three senior female student-athletes who will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level this fall — a fitting achievement as the School marks 50 years of coeducation.

Evie G. of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, will swim at Concordia University Irvine. For Evie., swimming has long been more than a sport.

“Every time I’m in the pool, I feel at home and at peace,” she said.

Recently, Evie read a letter she wrote to herself during sophomore year in which she listed one of her goals: to swim in college. This spring, she officially made that dream a reality.

Olivia D. of Lone Tree, Colorado, will play soccer at the University of Texas San Antonio. Soccer has always been central to her life, inspired in part by her father, who also played at the collegiate level.

“Continuing into college was always the goal,” D’Ambrosia said.

Sydney C. of Pittsboro, North Carolina, will play golf at Catholic University of America after taking up the sport just four years ago. Drawn to both the competition and the environment, Sydney quickly developed a passion for the game.

“I like the mental challenge,” she said. “And it’s a nice way to spend a day outside.”

Fountain Valley Athletic Director Matt Luyster said the accomplishments reflect the commitment and character of each student-athlete.

“Our student-athletes work incredibly hard to balance academics, athletics, and community life at Fountain Valley,” Luyster said. “Seeing Evie, Olivia, and Sydney earn the opportunity to compete at the next level is a reflection of their dedication, resilience, and love for their sports. We’re really proud of them.”

The three commitments come during a historic year for Fountain Valley School as the School celebrates 50 years since becoming fully coeducational in 1976. Today, female student-athletes continue to shape the School’s culture both on and off the field, court, course, and pool.

Fountain Valley School congratulates Evie, Olivia, and Sydney on this exciting next chapter.
