In May of 2024, Fountain Valley School celebrated one of its notable alumni – legendary alpinist Jamie Logan '65 – on campus with an exclusive screening of the short film Jamie.

The 18-minute documentary, Jamie – directed by Darcy Hennessey – premiered at the Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, Colo., in May 2024. It provides an inside look at Jamie's extraordinary life and career as one of the great pioneers in North American free climbing, showcasing the experiences and achievements that shaped this legacy.

Jamie’s presence and mentorship throughout the visit inspired the next generation of climbers to be brave, push their limits, and embrace their lifelong passions. During an intimate question-and-answer session after the screening, Jamie asked FVS climbers, “What can you do that you love,” adding “That's the challenge. If you can find just one thing you love, that's a really great thing."

In addition to watching the film, FVS student-athletes and faculty hit the climbing gym for a personal workout with Jamie, who has climbed some of the most dangerous routes in the world and was inducted into Fountain Valley’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021. Student-athletes and faculty alike were grateful for the chance to learn from and climb with such an extraordinary person who demonstrates daily the power of perseverance and the importance of staying true to oneself.

Today, Jamie resides in Longmont, Colo. and holds a successful career as an architect, focusing on sustainable energy-responsible design.
