Fountain Valley School gathered on December 12, 2025 to celebrate a milestone in FVS history, the official ribbon-cutting of the new Carillon Tower. This beautiful addition to campus was made possible through the generosity of Pleasant T. Rowland, an educator, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and longtime friend of FVS.

Five years ago, Ms. Rowland shared a vision: that the memories students carry with them long after they leave our campus are shaped by their five senses. The sound of bells across the prairie, she believed, could become part of the emotional landscape that defines their time here. Today, that vision has become a reality. With 56 handcrafted bells, the Carillon Tower will ring out across our 1,100-acre campus, offering a daily reminder of the beauty, tradition, and community here at Fountain Valley School.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together students, faculty, staff, and trustees to celebrate the moment and honor the generosity behind it. The event featured remarks from Ms. Rowland, Head of School Megan Harlan, and Board Chair Greg Osborne. The entire student body, faculty, and staff joined in song, marking the moment when this outstanding gift forever changed the FVS landscape.

“Once I got out here for the very first time, I could understand why Fountain Valley was the most perfect school Jerry ever could have gone to,” said Ms. Rowland, who loves Fountain Valley School every bit as much as her husband, longtime benefactor W. Jerome “Jerry” Frautschi ’49.

“He still carries the love of it in his heart today, and always will."
