91 years ago, Fountain Valley School began with the belief that a boarding school dedicated to traditional standards of excellence, character, and progressive ideals would thrive in the sublime setting of the American West—and so it has. The result is a unique educational experience that offers the quality of an East Coast boarding school and the culture of the American West, symbolized by the FVS ranch brand in our logo.

In the decades since, Fountain Valley School has grown into a vibrant international community of students from 21 countries and 24 states. Simultaneously, Colorado Springs has grown up around us into a bustling city with 700,000 people who choose this incredible location at the base of the Rocky Mountains for its quality of life and access to incomparable recreational opportunities.

Our broad-based liberal arts approach and dedicated faculty will challenge you through globally-minded inquiry, problem-solving, experiential learning, athletics, and creative expression. Our senior year capstone experiences will allow you to push yourself to the highest level academically or artistically while diving deep into a specific interest or essential question.

You’ll also enjoy abundant opportunities to challenge yourself and build character through sports inspired by our western lifestyle like climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and horseback riding, as well as traditional sports.

All of this takes place amidst two magnificent, memorable settings that will endear themselves to your heart and become a part of who you are. Our 1,100-acre main campus at the foot of the Rocky Mountains is characterized by our classic Western architecture and provides a park-like refuge from the big city that surrounds us. Our 40-acre mountain campus provides a retreat where you will find solitude, explore the mountain wilderness, and find valuable perspective as you look up at the stars.

And when you set off for college as one of our proud, distinguished alumni, the friendships you will have made here—both with fellow students and the faculty mentors—will stay with you for the rest of your life.
