Nine Student Artists Show at 2016 Wunderkind Exhibition

Sam Bermingham '16 won Best in Show 3D at the 17th Annual Wunderkind Exhibition this year.

Nine Fountain Valley School of Colorado student artists were chosen this year to participate in the 17th annual Wunderkind Exhibition at the Manitou Art Center. Wunderkind is a juried competition available to any junior or senior art student in the Pikes Peak region.

Sam Bermingham ’16 (metalsmithing), Claire Blood-Cheney ’16 (photography), Taylor Furrh ’17 (photography), Honoka Furuya ’16 (photography), Abby Gustke ’16 (ceramics), Siri Khalsa ’16 (photography), Sydney Lane ’16 (metalsmithing), McKenna Monk ’17 (photography) and Samantha Pratt ’16 (painting) were all selected to show their work in the exhibit, which ran for two months this spring. The students all work with Arts Faculty Mark Dillon P ’08, ’10, ’11, Addie Green '06 and Cheye Pagel '09.

Bermingham collected Best of Show 3D honors for his bracelet/cuff (shown at right).

FVS has a strong history of Wunderkind participants—last year, Calvin Hall ’15, Makena Mueller ’15, Jamie Park ’15, Cassidy Snyder ’15, Ben Strine ’15 and Caroline Verbica ’15 presented artwork in the program, and previous participants have included Anandi Black ’07, Julian Dillon ’08, Jorge Gomez ’05, Addie Green ’06, Cheye Pagel ’09, Cori Storb ’09, Nora Zhang '11, Bea Evans '12, Matt Barrackman '12, Graham Sondermann '13, Njeri Summey '13, Brooke Wheeling '13, Allegra Dufresne ’14, Hannah Pratt ’14 and Taylor Welch ’14.
