The student body at FVS represents approximately 15 foreign countries. The International Program is designed to meet the needs of international students as they adjust to the academic and social environment of boarding school. FVS offers English as a Second Language (ESL) at the intermediate and advanced levels. The goal of the ESL Program is to mainstream each student into the regular curriculum as soon as possible, and to prepare students for admission to selective colleges and universities.
International students are also supported by an active International Students Organization. The organization meets regularly and plans formal activities once a month, including international trivia at all-schools and an International Tables Week in the dining hall, as well as numerous events off campus.
International applicants are strongly encouraged to submit the Application for Admission by Feb. 1, as the acquisition of student visas can be time consuming.
In addition to the application requirements, international students must also submit:
Once an international student is accepted at Fountain Valley School, returned the Enrollment Contract and required deposit he/she will be issued an I-20 by the Office of Admission. The student will need to take the I-20 to his/her VISA application interview. The student must also designate an adult residing in the USA to act as guardian, a liaison between the School, the student, and the parents in matters such as cultural adjustment, permission forms, and travel and holiday arrangements.
