The American Legion has released Need A Lift, a 152-page book listing scholarships, grants and loans as well as information on scholarships for veteran’s dependents. Come into the College Counseling Office to review or research on the web site: www.needalift.org.

Located on the American Society of Military Comptroller’s web site, www.asmconline.org, under National Awards Program, includes National Scholarship Programs available to seniors.

AXA Achievement Scholarship

Best Buy Scholarships for students in grades 9-12 are available at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or www.at15.com. Apply December 26–Feb 15.

Black Hills Energy offers $1000 scholarships to Colorado students whose parents are customers of the company. The deadline is March 18 and applications are available at www.blackhillsenergy.com/scholarships.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program information is available at buickachievers.com and application is due March 31.

The Cibrowski Family Foundation offers scholarships to seniors pursuing careers in engineering and chemistry and attending Colorado School of Mines or University of Denver. Deadline is April 20 and applications are available in college office.

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 250 scholarships to motivated, dedicated, involved high school seniors. Go to

Colorado County Clerks Association offers the Presidential Scholarship to seniors who are Colorado residents who have at least a 3.25 GPA, are involved in the community and demonstrate a financial need. Please stop by the College Office for an application.

Colorado Young Farmers Educational Assoc at www.coloradoyoungfarmer.com is offering a scholarship to a Colorado resident attending a Colorado college/university who will major in agricultural education working toward a teaching degree. Applications due March 15.

The Daniels Scholarship Foundation is now accepting nominations and applications. If you are eligible and interested, please stop by the College Office: Who can apply? To be eligible to apply for a Daniels Scholarship, students must satisfy all of the following:
  • Be nominated by a designated referral agency
  • Be a current high school student
  • Be a current resident of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming
  • At the time of application, be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident of the U.S., or have refugee or asylum status in the U.S.
  • Demonstrate financial need (see “What is Financial Need?”)
  • Take the ACT by the yearly deadline date, and achieve an exam composite score of 17 or higher, or take the SAT by Oct. 10, and achieve a combined math and critical reading score of 830 or higher
The Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship opened Sept. 1, and the final deadline is December 2. High school seniors must be U.S. citizens and are judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Download application at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) announces its third annual essay contest for seniors. Visit www.thefire.org/contests and submit your entry by Nov. 1.

Greenhouse Scholars information is available at www.greenhousescholars.org and applications are due on Jan. 20. Must be a Colorado resident with a 3.5 GPA and an income under $70,000.

Hispanic Annual Salute: Deadline is Dec. 2 and applications are available in the College Office.

Horatio Alger Assoc Scholarship Program is offered to seniors with financial need who demonstrate involvement in co-curricular and community activities with a GPA of at least a 2.0 and are a U.S. citizen. Deadline is Oct. 30.  Must visit College Office if interested.

The Hurliman Scholarship Foundation offers up to $25,000/year to eligible seniors who reside in Fremont, Custer or Pueblo counties in Colorado. Please visit  www.hurlimanscholarshipfoundation.com for more information.

KFC Colonel’s Scholarship Program information is at www.kfcscholars.org.
High school seniors can now apply now for the Oh the Places You’ll Go College Scholarship Program. One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded. You can pick up applications in the College Office or visit www.ohtheplaces.org to print an application.

Kit Faragher Memorial Scholarship for high school seniors who have cumulative 2.5 GPA, show financial need and demonstrate positive attitude and strong commitments and drive toward accomplishment. Applications available at www.KitFaragherFountain.org and must be received by May 18.

This year LAEF will provide its scholarship application via the LAEF web site. The application is available to download and print and must be submitted prior to March 15, 2010. GPA requirement is 3.5 or higher and you must apply and be accepted to one of the National Commission Partner Institutions: Drexel U.; Johnson & Wales U.; Kettering U.; Pace U.; RIT; U. of Cincinnati; U. of Toledo, Wentworth Inst. of Tech.

National Defense Industrial Assoc., Rocky Mountain Chapter, offers scholarships to high school seniors at www.ndiarmc.org. Application due April 16.
New York Life Award is sponsored by New York Life Foundation and offers scholarships to teens in grades 7-12. Visit www.artandwriting.org.

“Old North End Neighborhood” scholarship available to seniors who reside within the specific boundaries attached to the map of this application. The award is $1,000 and application requires two letters of recommendation. Applications are due on April 15 and are available in the College Office.

The Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers: Offered to high school sophomores or juniors and sponsored by Kenyon Review. To enter, visit www.kenyonreview.org.

Peterson Spouses’ Club offer scholarships to dependents of active duty, retired, deceased MIA military personnel. Visit www.petersonspousesclub.com.

Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Aide to Girl of the West Competition offers scholarships to senior girl with the use of a horse and horse trailer. Applications are available in College Office and are due by July 1.
Pikes Peak Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) offer scholarship for senior planning to attend college in Colorado Springs and plans to major in business, medical asst. program, legal assistant/paralegal program or business administration program. Application available in College Office and deadline is April 8.

Princeton University sponsors the Princeton Prize in Race Relations for students grades 9-12 who are doing outstanding work in their schools or communities to advance the cause of race relations. Applications can be found at www.princeton.edu/PrincetonPrize.

Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado (PGCC) offers a poster and essay scholarship contest for high school students with a deadline of Jan. 31. Call 303.662.0772 for more information.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award

Pueblo African American Concern Organization offers scholarships for African-American and minority students. Applications are available in the College Office and are due by March 31. www.paaco.org or 719.545.5000.

RBC Wealth Management Colorado Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to students planning to pursue a degree in science, math or engineering. Applications are available at www.denverfoundation.org or call 303.996.7328.

Rollins College offers the RAN scholarship for Colorado residents for $5,000 and this is renewable. Applications must be submitted by Dec. 1 to be eligible. The scholarship is primarily based on leadership and involvement (not necessarily academic).

scholarship program offers scholarships to students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goals. Visit www.rmhc.org.

Sachs Fountain Scholarships are offered to Black/African American seniors who have resided in Colorado for the last five years. Applications are available online at www.sachsfoundation.org or call 719.633.2353. Applications are accepted yearly from Jan. 1-March 1.

Future engineers may be interested in the Society of American Military Engineers Scholarship which is available in the College Office.

Society of Women’s Engineers offers scholarships to female Colorado high school seniors. Application available at www.swe.org and website is www.swe-pps.org. Applications due March 31.

Transit Mix Concrete CO Scholarship is offered to seniors who reside in El Paso County. Application deadline is March 11 and applications are available in College Office.

Wendy's Heisman Award
for senior athletes who are leaders in the school and community. www.wendysheisman.com. Apply by Oct. 3.

Will to Win Scholarship is available to seniors who are outstanding, disciplined, determined and successful in managing their asthma. Two $5,000 scholarships available and you can read more about this scholarship at www.willtowinscholarship.com.

Alvin J. Cox Memorial Fund
Award Amount: $1,000

The Alvin J. Cox Memorial Fund is available to college students in need of financial assistance. You must submit an essay on any topic of your choosing as long it includes: Your reason for deciding to attend college, your reason as to why you believe you deserve the scholarship and your chosen college major.

Global Solutions Multimedia Contest
Award Amount: $2,000

The Global Solutions Multimedia Contest 2008 is available to high school students, college students, grad students, aspiring artists, multimedia designers and activists who have an interest in international affairs. To be eligible for this contest, you must submit a short video addressing the question: "How can the United States support peacekeeping and the International Criminal Court, or working through the international community, as viable solutions to ending the genocide in Darfur?" This contest is open to students of all majors, though those interested in international relations, political science, government, human rights, computer science, graphic design and IT are particularly encouraged to apply.
